I'm delighted to report that Loving Eleanor has been shortlisted for the Ben Franklin Award in the LGBT category. This is a special recognition for me as a publisher, for this award takes into consideration the book's cover, its interior design, and its binding, as well as the story itself. The books on the shortlist will all receive a silver; the gold will be announced on April 8 in Portland. Hick and Mrs. R and I have all our fingers crossed.
I love my traditionally published books and have enjoyed working with my editors and publishers over the decades of my writing life. But there's a special pleasure in being both the author and the publisher of an award-winning book, and I have long felt that this particular book--the story of the enduring friendship of two wonderful women--was very special. Thanks to you for coming along for the ride!
